Why This Shape Works
The G# Phrygian scale uses G♯, A, B, C♯, D♯, E, F♯ and the formula 1 b2 b3 4 5 b6 b7. In Standard tuning, the open strings run E B G D A E from highest to lowest, with the usual guitar string intervals.
